What a wagering requirement is

A wagering requirement is how many times you have to bet a bonus before the site lets you cash any of it out. It's usually written as a multiplier — you'll see things like "30x."

Take an illustrative example. Say you get a $50 bonus with 30x wagering. Before you can withdraw, you have to place $50 × 30 = $1,500 in total bets. You don't need $1,500 — the same coins get wagered over and over as you win and lose — but you do have to run that volume through the games first. On some sites the requirement applies to the bonus plus your deposit, which makes the number bigger still.

That's the gap the headline hides: a "$50 bonus" is not $50 you can take out. It's $50 of play with strings attached.

The details that change the math

Two bonuses with the same headline can be worlds apart. Before you claim one, check:
